Local Information
Knutsford
Meller Braggins, north Cheshire and south Manchester's leading independent
estate agents, offer a wide range of property related
professional services from their Princess Street, Knutsford offices. Justly proud of the company's long association
with this part of
North
Cheshire, the Knutsford showroom has undergone a major refurbishment in recent years and now offers state of the art facilities
in
comfortable, contemporary surroundings.
The delightful old Cheshire market town of Knutsford is a very special location in which to live. There are good shops, excellent recreational facilities and a range of schools for
all ages - both state and private. The town is well known for its many interesting and historic properties
- in particular, King Street for its old
world charm and Legh Road for its splendid Edwardian Italianate houses. There is a good choice of all
types of modern property as well as
an excellent selection of Victorian and Edwardian houses. Demand for residential property in Knutsford
is traditionally very strong.
The town also has important historical associations - Elizabeth Gaskell wrote some of her best known novels here, earning Knutsford a place
in literary history with her charming portrayal of its Victorian characters in Cranford. Tatton Park, once the home of the Egerton family, is now Cheshire's premier visitor attraction. The park comprises almost 1000 acres of open land and gives Knutsfordians plenty of space to walk in
and enjoy with their families.
For the commuter, Manchester is just 15 miles to the north and may be reached either by road via the M56 motorway or from Altrincham
via
the Metrolink. The M6 motorway (junction 19) is readily accessible and allows easy access both north and south. Knutsford has its own railway station on the main Manchester-Chester line. Manchester International Airport is close to hand and may be reached in approximately
20 minutes.
Macclesfield
Meller Braggins takes pride in a long association with Macclesfield and continues to consolidate and augment its position as the town's
leading independent estate agent, offering a wide range of professional services to this dynamic community.
The Macclesfield area boasts many splendid buildings together with a diverse range of housing - from loft apartments in Victorian Mills,
terraced cottages and modern "executive" homes - to farms, country mansions and estates.
The town has also successfully retained its independence from the south Manchester commuter belt and has evolved over the last couple
of decades as the prominent centre in the north Cheshire region, whilst at the same time maintaining its market town atmosphere.
Granted its charter in 1215, today Macclesfield is still surrounded by open countryside, with the lush Cheshire Plain immediately to the west
of the town contrasting with the craggy splendour of the Peak District National Park to the east, the world's second most visited National
Park after Mount Fuji in Japan.
Its world renowned silk manufacturing industry has now sadly disappeared, but that proud heritage is commemorated within the town's Silk Museum housed in the imposing Heritage Centre. Silk manufacture has been replaced by a vibrant and varied light industrial economy with
some of the most prestigious names in pharmaceutical research and manufacturing represented locally, along with many other enterprises.
Macclesfield is particularly well located for commuters. It is within easy travelling distance of Manchester city centre by both road and rail
and there are direct inter city services bringing London within just over two hours travelling time and providing ready access to Scotland and
the south coast. Manchester's thriving and ever expanding International Airport is approximately 30 minutes away by road.

property sale and letting service to the Northwich area over many years.
With its services and facilities now enhanced by a major internal refurbishment and restyling of the company's noted black and white timber
frame style showroom, Meller Braggins has consolidated its position as market leader in this vibrant and affluent community.
Although the town's economy was originally based on the mining and distribution of the extensive brine salt deposits for which the region is renowned and later underpinned by the arrival of the chemical industry, today light engineering, office and service based industries and
retailing have largely overtaken these traditional employment areas.
The region's numerous well known landmarks include Arley Hall, Marbury Country Park and the internationally famous Oulton Park racing
circuit. The Anderton Boat Lift, designed to lift boats from the Trent and Mersey Canal to the River Weaver below has been fully restored
in recent years and is now a World Heritage Site, attracting visitors from all over the world.

Wilmslow
Meller Braggins' highly regarded reputation has firmly positioned the partnership as Wilmslow's leading independent estate agent.
The move to new premises in Alderley Road during 2004 has enabled Meller Braggins to greatly enhance its residential sales and letting operation, while continuing to build on the tradition of providing a service to the commercial sector, including the letting, sale and management
of shops, offices and other commercial premises. Our professional valuation work, which includes valuation for tax, matrimonial and corporate purposes will also be expanded, together with a consolidation of the auction activity that has grown so rapidly in recent years.
